What’s New For The 2025 Model Year? Previously, The 5-series came in three versions: 530i, 540i, and 550e. This year the German carmaker is adding the range-topping 550e model to the lineup.

How about the designs? According to the news reports, The outside look of the BMW 5-Series is staying the same for the 2025 models. This midsize sedan will show up with cool swept-back headlights, big kidney grilles, and a sharp front part. The lower part of the 5-Series sedan’s body will have a black trim, adding some style to the design. At the back, you’ll see slim taillights, chrome U-shaped parts, and a round bumper.

Inside the new 2025 BMW 5-Series, things have gotten pretty high-tech with big screens taking over the dashboard. The dashboard is simple, with a horizontal vent dividing it, not many physical buttons, and a matching trim on the door. Instead of the usual gear shifter, BMW went for a much smaller one, creating extra space for storing things on the transmission tunnel. You can also get the 5-Series with vegan leather seats and fancy materials.

Infotainment, Connectivity, and Safety Features

Moving on to the 540i, it comes with all-wheel drive and a more powerful 375-horsepower turbocharged inline-six engine, plus a 48-volt hybrid system gives it an extra boost.

Now, the plug-in hybrid 550e, it’s got an inline-six and an electric motor working together for a total of 483 horsepower, and all-wheel drive comes standard. According to BMW, the 540i is expected to reach 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds, while the 550e can do it even faster in around 4.0 seconds.

How about range and charging for the 550e xDrive plug-in hybrid? It has a 19.4-kWh battery pack according to the carmaker but more details are not yet available, we will update this post when BMW releases more official data for these sedans.

How about Fuel Economy and real-world MPG? So, here’s the lowdown on fuel economy: The 530i, with its four-cylinder engine, is expected to give you around 27 miles per gallon in the city and 35 on the highway, according to the EPA. Now, the 540i, with a bit more power, is estimated at 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. As for the plug-in hybrid 550e, we’re still waiting on those official estimates.
