The New 2025 Ford Mustang GTD: Everything You Need To Know is Here

Posted on

The New 2025 Ford Mustang GTD will come out in late 2024. Firstly, it’s important to know that this Mustang GTD is quite different from the EcoBoost or GT you usually see on the road. While some parts come from the Flat Rock Assembly Plant, most of the car is put together by hand at Multimatic’s facilities in Markham, Canada. It’s the same place where they made the Ford GT. The Mustang GTD, named after the IMSA’s GTD racing class, is made there too, for similar reasons.

The Ford Mustang GTD is unlike any other Mustang before. It runs on a unique version of the powerful 760-horsepower engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500, with even more power, according to Ford. Plus, it comes with a price tag that’s comparable to the value of some homes.

2025 Ford Mustang GTD Specs, Design

The 2025 GTD is like a Mustang on steroids – the car you know, but cranked up to eleven. Upfront, it’s got that familiar Mustang face, but take a closer look, and you’ll see it’s flexing some seriously aggressive aerodynamics and sporting large hood vents. Move to the sides, and you can’t miss the sizeable cooling vents on the front quarter panel and the muscle-bound rear fender bulge.

But wait, it’s at the back where things get wild. The rear spoiler is like a loud announcement that this is no ordinary Mustang; it’s the GTD. Dual exhausts with these cool rectangular finishers and a beefy rear diffuser wrap up the look. It’s not just a car; it’s a statement, turning heads with every curve and vent. Interior, Cabin, and Features

The new 2025 GTD may resemble a race car outside, but its cabin embraces street-car comforts. The interior boasts a mix of suede, leather, and carbon fiber, creating a stylish blend. Equipped with Recaro bucket front seats, the GTD opts for weight reduction by sacrificing rear cushions, creating both a lighter ride and additional cargo space.

For a touch of high-tech luxury, the paddle shifters, rotary dial gear selector, and serial placard are 3D-printed from titanium, with the material sourced from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 fighter jets. Ford offers multiple interior color and equipment options, encouraging unique, personalized looks. With these choices, expect a range of bespoke liveries, ensuring each GTD reflects its owner’s distinct style.

2025 Ford Mustang GTD Color

Speaking about colors, Ford has a cool offer. They claim you can pick any shade you fancy, and they’ll perfectly match it with the paint for your car. Inside, they’re keeping it intriguing with “multiple color combinations,” although the specifics are still a bit of a mystery for now.

Engine & Performance

The Mustang GTD draws its moniker from IMSA’s GTD (Grand Touring Daytona) racing class, where GT3 race cars compete. It’s heralded as the most potent Mustang crafted by Ford, packing over 800 horsepower from a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine. Surpassing its GT3 racing counterpart with a 5.4-liter V-8 and approximately 500 horsepower, the 2025 GTD boasts a redline exceeding 7500 rpm, according to Caranddriver report.

Unleashing its power with titanium exhaust pipes featuring an active valve, the GTD’s road-legal status allows Ford to push boundaries. Shifting is managed by a rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle powered by a carbon fiber driveshaft. Nearly every panel is carbon fiber, contributing to its aggressive aerodynamics, evident in the front splitter, vented hood, fenders, and an optional C-pillar-mounted hydraulically-controlled wing.

The trunk houses suspension and cooling components, with air scoops directing airflow for transaxle cooling. Multimatic’s adaptive suspension, with race-type pushrod suspension and adaptive spool valve shocks, enhances driver control. In Track Mode, hydraulically actuated springs lower the ride height by about 1.5 inches.

Equipped with 325mm front and 345mm rear tires, the GTD sports 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. Optional magnesium wheels maintain the GT3 aesthetic, featuring five lugs instead of center-locking. Wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, these wheels embody the racing spirit.
