The New 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe: Review, Prices and Release Date

Posted on

NewCars-Data.com – In an era dominated by the surge in popularity of crossover vehicles, BMW continues to uphold its commitment to producing and enhancing its lineup of two-door cars. The recent introduction of a manual gearbox for the Z4 M40i exemplifies this dedication, marking the first time during the G29 generation that the U.S. market has access to a Z4 with three pedals. However, it’s worth noting that the sDrive20i, not available in the United States, has been offering a manual transmission since its launch in 2019, catering to a European audience.

In its home country of Germany, the six-speed Z4 sDrive20i, powered by a four-cylinder engine, is priced at €50,200. This presents an intriguing dynamic when compared to its more powerful counterpart, the six-cylinder M40i equipped with a manual gearbox. The substantial price difference of €25,100 underscores the diverse options BMW provides within the Z4 lineup, accommodating varying preferences and budgets.

This move aligns with BMW’s strategy of offering a broad spectrum of choices to cater to a global audience with distinct driving preferences. While the M40i with its six-cylinder engine and manual transmission may appeal to those seeking the pinnacle of performance, the sDrive20i, with its more economical price point, targets enthusiasts who prioritize a spirited driving experience without the need for the highest levels of power.

Beyond the Z4, BMW’s commitment to its two-door lineup is further evident in the upcoming Life Cycle Impulse for the 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, along with their M4 counterparts. While described as a minor facelift, this refresh highlights BMW’s dedication to evolving and refining its coupe and convertible offerings, ensuring they remain compelling choices for drivers who have yet to embrace the SUV trend.

BMW 4 Series Coupe Redesign for 2025 Model Year

No More Laser Headlights on the upcoming 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe. The lights have seen the biggest modifications. The new, more angular headlights up front use a single LED module for both high and low beams. The daytime running lights and turn signals are now controlled by two arrow-shaped components, which further departs from the traditional “angel eyes.” Newer BMW models with these arrow-shaped DRLs are the X5, X6, and 2024 5 Series.

The adaptive LED matrix headlights with blue inner accents that come with the more costly variants essentially replace the laser lights that were on the pre-facelift cars. The Shadowline upgrade, BMW marketing speak meaning substantially tinted clusters, gets you these prettier lights.

Matrix headlight-equipped cars also have laser taillights that are similar to the M4 CSL. A fiber optic bundle is illuminated by laser diodes to produce a complicated design with a three-dimensional appearance.

BMW is bringing back Cape York Green and Fire Red (Vegas Red in the US) body colors, which are taken from recently released goods, to further liven up the 2025 4 Series family. For the cars with the M Sport Package, there are also larger exhaust tips measuring 100 mm in diameter rather than 90 mm and new 19-inch wheel designs. Additionally, those models feature a glossy black diffuser element.

2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe comes out with New Grilles

All 2025 models of Series Coupe will come out with new grilles. The M Performance models introduce a specific set of modifications. The 2025 BMW M440i and M440d (yep, the M440d is still extant) have a new grille that features a M emblem, horizontal bars, and a glossy black surround. Where Cerium Grey surfaces once were on the front apron, there is now a high-gloss black finish. The standard M Shadowline exterior kit includes glossy black trapezoidal exhaust finishers for these M Lite versions.

The stylish side mirror covers are a direct carryover from the M4 to the M Performance versions. Those twin-stalk mirrors have a carbon fiber finish when the M Carbon exterior option is chosen. Using the same lightweight material, the optional trunk lid spoiler for the coupe also includes a carbon fiber diffuser.

What’s New Inside?

Entering the 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, one notices that the iDrive 8.5 system has been replaced with a restyled leather steering wheel featuring three spokes and a flat bottom. Both shift paddles and the ambient lighting surrounding the central air vents are now standard. Choose the coupe; M Performtex is a new black upholstery that is exclusive to BMW. Additionally, it is possible to order crystal controls (iDrive controller, gear selector lever, and start/stop button).

2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe Engine & Performance

The new 2025 4 Series Coupe is powered by a Twin Turbo engine that uses 48V mild hybrid technology. The 48V mild hybrid technology is advantageous for the 2-liter 4-cylinder and 3-liter 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engines. However, BMW’s B58 (B58B30M2) will receive the first OPF (Otto Particle Filter) in the US. The effect of the OPF on exhaust noise is still unknown. The B58 for M440i vehicles will be using the KSG (crankshaft starter generator) variant of the MHEV (48V mild hybrid) system starting in March of this year.

The MHEV system in question qualifies for homologation as it can remain active for over 10 seconds in total, meeting the required criteria. In contrast, the previous SGR (starter generator belt) based MHEV system fails to satisfy this duration criterion. The 2025 BMW M440i is anticipated to generate 386 horsepower at 5,200-6,250 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 1,900-4,800 rpm.

Conversely, the 2025 430i is equipped with a B48B20O2 2-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, delivering 255 horsepower at 4,700-6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 1,600-4,500 rpm.
